Pool party: how to organise the perfect pool party

The arrival of good weather brings with it the desire to spend more time outdoors, sharing it with our friends and family. But what better way to do so and also beat the heat than by having a pool party if you have the opportunity?

Think about it, a pool party where you can enjoy good company, food, drinks, fun, your favourite music… A great option for a celebration like a birthday, but also a fantastic way to simply celebrate the moment and the beginning of summer

If you’re intrigued but unsure how to organise a pool party, don’t worry, here are some tips to ensure it’s a success whenever you decide to celebrate.

Ideas and tips for organising a pool party

Pool parties come in many forms: small, large, with friends, to meet new people, themed… An endless array of possibilities, but all with a common focus, a pool to cool off and beat the heat.

To help you choose all the details for the party, we propose some ideas and tips below.

What do you want your party to be like?

You might think that a pool party is just that, a pool party. But why not make this summer celebration an unforgettable experience by planning it down to the smallest detail? That’s why we believe the first thing you should consider is how you want it to be.

Do you want an informal get-together without any pretensions, or do you prefer to give it a more fun and creative twist by making it a theme party? White parties are always a hit for summer celebrations, but it’s not the only theme you can choose. Why not give it a more fantastic touch and have a mermaid-themed party? Or something more adventurous like a pirate-themed party? Perhaps one inspired by the ocean floor?

How to decorate your party

The decoration of your pool party will depend on the theme you choose, but we assure you that everyone will love finding inflatables, balls, or even inflatable animals to enjoy in the water.

Use cups and plates that match the theme, a small detail that will surely delight your guests. Add some garlands or tablecloths with cheerful prints, or even a banner or a photo booth to welcome your guests and let them take pictures. Also, if you intend for the party to last for hours, or if it’s going to be at night, make sure you have the necessary lighting

Lastly, ensure there are enough seats for your guests to sit down, eat, or drink. Even if they’re wearing the most comfortable flip flops, everyone gets tired after a few hours.

Don’t forget the food and drinks

Every good party should leave its guests satisfied when it comes to food and drinks. But for a pool party, it’s important to choose options that are convenient for your guests and, above all, refreshing

Our recommendation is to go for cold snacks like sandwiches, canapés, tomato and mozzarella skewers, fruit skewers… But if you have the chance to use a barbecue and someone who can handle it, you can incorporate other dishes like burgers or hot dogs.

As for drinks, make sure they’re always chilled. You can place buckets filled with ice to hold soft drinks, water, and other beverages. Additionally, you can make a refreshing lemonade filled with ice so your guests can serve themselves as much as they want.

Don’t forget the music…

Music is essential at any pool party to create a lively and fun atmosphere among your guests. You can create a playlist with summer hits, your favourite songs, or the favourite songs of each attendee. It all depends on the tone you want the party to have, whether you want it to be relaxed or for everyone to keep dancing.

To make it even more fun, you can have someone in charge of the music and let your guests make requests throughout the party. The important thing is to have a good time.

… nor the fun

For a pool party, fun isn’t just about music, drinks, and food. Though the good weather and dips in the pool help a lot. Why not make it even more entertaining with games for all your guests to participate in?

You can have a water polo match, competitions to cross the pool… Or organise poolside games like water balloon tosses or water gun battles, a way to have fun and better withstand the heat. Just make sure to remind your guests to bring appropriate footwear, like slides, to avoid slipping outside the pool.

And don’t forget the essentials

This might be the most boring part of the party, but it’s one of the most important. Protecting oneself from the sun is essential to avoid burns, but we’re aware that not all guests will remember to bring protection. That’s why we suggest having sun protection available for your guests.

Additionally, you can also set up a basket with pool accessories or a table with hats and caps for them to cover their heads and avoid possible heatstroke.
