Winter activities for everyone

The cold has arrived, have you already taken your winter clothes out of the wardrobe? The truth is that with the cold of winter also comes less daylight hours and, sometimes, a rather unpleasant weather that takes away our desire to do things both indoors and outdoors, but we can’t let that happen to you!

Winter may be bringing the temperatures down, but we have winter activities to suggest so that you can still have as much fun as in summer.

What to do in winter? Plans and activities

Fewer hours of daylight or cooler temperatures can also dampen your motivation. However, you may not yet have found the perfect winter activity to keep you entertained this season.

Need a suggestion? Because we have a few for you to have a great time alone, with your family or with your friends.

Plans to do in winter without leaving the house

Yes, we’re not going to deny it, the cold weather makes us not want to leave the house and there’s nothing wrong with that. Staying indoors doesn’t have to be synonymous with boredom, so why not give these winter activities a try?

The easiest plan? An afternoon of series and blanket, or a marathon of your favourite film saga. A perfect plan both alone and with company. And if it’s accompanied by hot chocolate or some snacks, all the better.

Of course, you may also prefer to gather your friends at home. In that case, a good evening of board games may be the solution. But if you prefer a more festive atmosphere and you have a karaoke machine at hand, don’t miss the opportunity for a night of laughter.

Reading is always a good winter activity if you want to stay indoors. You can prepare your favourite drink, grab your blanket and turn on some music to immerse yourself in that book you’ve been waiting to read for so long. You can even set up your own book club with your friends or sign up for one online. If you need suggestions you can always check out the hashtags #bookgram and #bookstagram to find plenty of recommendations.

If you are still wondering what to do in winter, perhaps the answer is to invest your time in your home. It may be time to get down to work and do a little renovation. But don’t do any building work. Maybe repaint your room in a colour you like, reorganise the space… it’s up to you.

Perhaps the best way to spend your time this time of year is to pamper yourself – how about a spa day? Whether you do it indoors or at a specialised place, it can help you disconnect and isolate yourself from the cold and darkness outside. Don’t forget your pool flip-flops! You’ll need them.

Treat yourself to a pampering session with a massage or a facial, get a manicure… You can enjoy this relaxing moment alone or with your partner. Take care of your feet so that they can shine when you wear your favourite Havaianas model this autumn/winter season.

And if you want to stay in touch with nature, but without leaving your home, you can always turn to plants. If you have a small garden or terrace you can create your own green space with green plants, aromatic plants or your favourite winter flowers. A very relaxing and satisfying activity.

Winter crafts activities

Crafts are one of the best winter activities, but that doesn’t mean you can only do them in winter. And some of them are a great option if you have children at home to keep them entertained.

What if you started a new hobby? Knitting is a great option that is also very relaxing. On the internet you can find a lot of tutorials with which you can start to become a golden needle.

You can also give free rein to your creativity and that of the little ones by creating all kinds of decorations. You can create a wreath for the door from the bases that are sold in craft shops or make decorations from recycled materials to decorate the house with.

Have you ever thought about making your own candles? It is a very easy and fun activity with which you can spend a very pleasant afternoon. You can find kits for making them online and, who knows? Maybe you can make some personalised ones to give as Christmas presents.

However, if there is one winter activity that no child can resist, it is baking biscuits. The little ones love to get their hands dirty and spend an afternoon making their biscuits for a snack. They can decorate them creatively with coloured noodles, edible glitter, jam… Lots of options!

And if you want to enjoy your creativity on your own, perhaps scrapbooking is the craft you were looking for this winter. Collect your old photos and create pages dedicated to your most precious moments to complete a unique book in which to keep your memories.

Winter outdoor activities

Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors. There are winter plans designed for the outdoors that can delight family and friends.

At this time of year it is very common for Christmas markets and craft markets to be held in every city. Why not visit them? You’ll be able to see all kinds of handicrafts, decorations and, while you’re at it, try a dessert or drink to include among your favourites.

Another option is to let yourself be carried away by the winter beauty of nature and go for a good hike in the bush. Just make sure you take a good coat and gloves. You can also make the most of the opportunity to pick up materials for your Christmas crafts.

If you prefer not to leave the city, there are many activities you can do this winter. Strolling around your city is always a good plan, especially if the Christmas lights are already shining on the streets. Why not take the opportunity to see the lights and then spend some leisure time with your friends? Have they opened a new café that you haven’t heard of yet? Or maybe there’s a play you’ve been wanting to see for a long time. Doesn’t that sound like a different way to make the most of this cold season?
But if you prefer to give back to others at this time of year, remember that you can always turn to NGOs who are looking for volunteers to help them with anything they might need, from caring for people to delivering food. Helping others is always a great plan, whether it’s winter or summer.
